iDAQ-964 is a four-slot data acquisition chassis. It’s a chassis module to realize the availability of iDAQ functionalities on the AMAX-5000 platform.
Features
- PCIe interface connecting to AMAX-5000 series controllers
- LED status indicators
- 4 iDAQ slots
- 2 programmable function pin for timing signal (trigger, clock) input/output
Support hot swap
The iDAQ module supports hot swapping and maintenance is very simple. When an iDAQ module is integrated into a machine as a measurement device, it may become damaged due to on-site conditions after a long period of continuous use. Hot-swap replaces damaged modules without interrupting the operation of the module, avoiding the trouble of shutting down and restarting key equipment (such as servers that require continuous operation). In addition, in laboratory scenarios, the measurement signal type can change according to different test procedures according to actual needs, so the hot-swappable function of the DAQ system is very helpful for laboratory technicians to exchange modules according to project needs.
Precise time synchronization and simplified routing
The iDAQ-900 series chassis provides fast bus access through the backplane to realize the connection between iDAQ modules. Among the timing signals are triggers and synchronization clocks, which control when the measurement cycle starts and stops, as well as the acquisition speed. Each DAQ module can be synchronized over the bus using the same clock and trigger events. This makes synchronization with Advantech iDAQ systems easy as they only need to be configured in the software, which also means no complex connections are required.
On top of the backplane bus, programmable function pins (PFPs) in the iDAQ-900 chassis provide a clock control interface. DAQ modules can be configured as input or output signal types, as well as single pulse or clock types. This provides great flexibility for field applications that need to be synchronized with external devices, or simply pulsed by other devices.
Rugged design to withstand harsh environments
Three factors make iDAQ systems rugged: resistance to vibration, resistance to EMC, and wide temperature range operation. The entire assembly is tested under 5Grms random vibration and 30G shock tests, which are designed to withstand the most extreme vibration scenarios. The iDAQ series adopts an aluminium alloy shell and has better EMC performance. Finally, the operating temperature range is -20 - 60°C, which will make it well suited to not only most factories but also many outdoor environments. iDAQ systems are designed to operate 24/7 in most factory and outdoor environments.
The left side of AMAX-5580 supports 4 PCIE interface modules. iDAQ-964 occupies one module position and can also connect 3 AMAX expansion communication modules (serial port, CAN, camera, WIFI, 4G, 5G...).
The iDAQ system relies on DAQNavi/SDK as a development package. It provides a Navigator utility to configure modules and chassis and test their functionality. This article provides sample code to help guide programmers on how to use the API suite. In addition, Advantech has released a Python SDK so that customers can quickly build and test their solutions and prove their reliability.
iDAQ system programming code is interchangeable between chassis. For example, a program completed based on iDAQ-934 can be moved directly to iDAQ-964 with only slight modifications to the device name. Due to its modular and robust design, simplified cabling and easy-to-use SDK, the Advantech IDAQ system will be ideal for future test and measurement scenarios that require DAQ testing challenges.
