Multi-functional industrial controller
ADAM-3600 is a versatile intelligent remote terminal device designed for applications in the oil, gas, and water industries, and for use with solar panels. It provides remote management, and supports cloud technologies, diverse wireless capabilities, and multiple inputs/outputs, making it ideal for operations in remote and harsh environments with numerous devices that require remote management.
The ADAM-3600 controller combines the functions of a Remote Terminal Unit (RTU), a Data Acquisition and Transmission Unit (DATU), and a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). It features expansion I/O modules and supports wireless interfaces such as Wi-Fi, 4G/3G/GPRS, and ZigBee. Operating on RealTime Linux and Cortex A8 processor, it supports protocols including ModBus, DNP3, MQTT, and HTTP REST API, and integrates with SCADA systems and cloud IoT platforms such as Microsoft Azure IoT Hub and Amazon AWS IoT.

Network functions, communication reliability, and easy configuration
ADAM-3600 features two independent Ethernet ports that can be used either as a switch or separated into WAN and LAN. This simplifies the connection of controllers in a daisy-chain topology without the need for additional switches over long distances. The controller supports failover mode for automatic switching to a backup channel in case of connection loss, for instance, from wired internet to 3G, which is critical for critical infrastructure applications. Additionally, modern VPN technologies are supported, including OpenVPN 2.4 with AES-256-CBC encryption and certificate-based authentication. The hardware device ID can be quickly set via a DIP switch on the front panel, facilitating initial configuration and enabling remote device configuration over the network.
Operation modes and functions of the ADAM-3600
ADAM-3600 stands out with its versatility, providing data acquisition, telemetry transmission, object communication for control, and programmable logic controller functions. Each function has its own development environment.
The device also operates as a traditional Data Acquisition and Transmission Unit (DATU) with the capability of preprocessing data, such as calculating root mean square deviation. Data can be stored on an SD card when there is no internet connection and transmitted to the server once the connection is restored. The MQTT protocol allows direct data collection into cloud services. Device configuration is done in the graphical environment of EdgeLink Studio, greatly simplifying deployment.
